Friday saw the re-opening of the expanded South Liverpool Homes Market Place by the library in Parklands. The space is a great resource for local people that provides food and household products to families who are struggling. For just £3 they provide £15 of food and products that have come from Fare Share, the local Morrisons and other partners that have surplus stock to donate.

The expansion means that they can store more of this stock and offer their services to more people than previously, including local groups and charities that help build strong community links. On Friday a group was in their community room learning to make Christmas decorations.

I then joined Anne Bishop, Chief Executive of South Liverpool Homes, LCC’s Director of Housing Andrew Leigh, SLH’s Head of Development and Growth, Adam Smith, plus representatives from Kingsmead Construction to help launch the building of SLH’s new development on Church St in Garston. The development will see 15 much-needed two and three bedroom houses available to affordably rent or buy.
