Today marked 75 years since over 7,000 prisoners of the Nazi Auschwitz camp were liberated by the soldiers of the Soviet army. 1,689 days of murder, humiliation, suffering, and pain were over for thousands of men, women, and children.
The Holocaust Educational Trust’s theme this year is “Stand Together”. I stand with the Jewish community and promise that if bigotry or hatred ever arises, we will not desert them. We must never forget the barbarity that was inflicted on Jews and others in Nazi concentration camps.
