I recently visited Hale Road to see again the problems local residents across Speke are having with nuisance parking, noise and anti-social behaviour around the airport. I have heard from many residents about the problems caused, especially at night with noisy pick-ups and idling engines in the early hours, dumping of litter into gardens and blocking of access into their own drives and homes.

There was a holiday-maker flight coming in from Spain as I got to Hale Road which meant there were a lot of cars, taxis and Ubers sat waiting. They were parked all over the road and central reservation on Western Avenue and I saw that residents down Hale Road had put out cones in front of their properties to stop people parking there. The situation can’t continue like this for residents and I will continue to work with the Council and airport to find solutions to the problem.

The Council’s consultation into airport parking will be published soon and will contain recommendations on how the problems can be tackled. I will share this when published. You can hear more above.
