On Wednesday I joined colleagues from across the House at the Jo Cox Foundation’s Great Get Together in Parliament, held ten years to the day that Jo was killed in 2016. Held annually, the Great Get Togethers celebrate everything that connects out communities, inspired by Jo’s belief that we have more in common than that which divides us.
Set up in Jo’s memory, the Foundation makes meaningful change on issues that she felt passionately about. They work with communities across the country to strengthen trust and respect across politics and society, which is increasingly important as politics becomes more factional and polarised.
I joined Jo’s sister Kim Leadbeater and speakers including Neil Kinnock and Sarah Brown to honour her memory and celebrate the work her foundation has done since in Jo’s name.
