On Friday I visited Stockton Wood Primary School in Speke to hear about their Aspiration Week, which aimed to teach children to “stay curious, aim high”.
Head Justine Clovis told me that they’d had several local businesses and organisations, including Launchpad Veterans, come in throughout the week to talk to the pupils about how important it is to work hard and succeed in life. Aspiration is something that can easily be overlooked and is not always taught in schools, but this week of events went down well with the pupils and helped to show them that ambition and drive to succeed is an important part of life.
I also met with some of the Parent Governors to hear about some of the pupils experiences at the school and how they’re raising attendance rates that many schools have struggled with since the Covid pandemic.
