I was pleased to join the Labour government’s Aviation Minister, Keir Mather MP, to visit Liverpool John Lennon Airport and meet with their Chief Executive and representatives from Easyjet.

Easyjet have announced a number of new routes from LJL this year, with flights to Naples, Paphos, Lisbon, Krakow and Almeria, which is great news for the airport and their expansion plans.

The visit also included switching on LJL’s new £3 million solar farm, located within the airport perimeter fence, which will generate up to 3 megawatts of electricity. This can at full capacity power up to 25% of the airport’s current electricity demand, a key part of its Decarbonisation Plan to be zero carbon by 2040. This can only be good news for LJL, voted the UK’s number one airport again in 2025, and it’s long-term future.

We also visited their new Aspire Lounge, where the Minister discussed the airports fantastic recovery since the pandemic, with 2025 being the airport’s busiest year to date.
