On Friday I was pleased to attend the second annual Christmas switch-on event on at All Souls Church in Springwood, always a great way to start the festive season. Organised by Cllr Kimberley Berry and volunteers from across the community, it’s a great free event that lets families visit Santa and enjoy a Christmas evening of food and fun.

Every child who saw Santa received a selection box and as last year there were kid’s activities and stalls to buy cakes and Christmas decorations, alongside music from the Church choir. It was a lovely atmosphere and I want to say a big thank you to everyone involved. For many families struggling this Christmas this could be their only chance to meet Santa and enjoy such a festive evening, and you could see how much the children enjoyed it. I look forward to visiting again next year.
