Maria Eagle MP A Strong Voice in Tough Times

This weekend my constituent Mark King, founder of the Oliver King Foundation, was awarded an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours list. Mark started the charity in 2012 after his son Oliver tragically died from a cardiac arrest following a school swimming lesson due to Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome.
Since then Mark has delivered over 7,000 defibrillators to groups and organisations throughout the country, which have saved over 80 lives up to now, and his campaigning has led to every school in the country having a defibrillator on site.
Mark will tell you that he does it all in Oliver’s name but I am so pleased to see that he has been recognised for the literally life-saving work he has done over the last 13 years. I will continue to support him and the Foundation as I have done since they were founded.
