This week in my position as Minister for Defence Procurement and Industry I was pleased to open the new Submarine Availability Support Hub (SASH) in Bristol, a game-changing facility that will strengthen Britain’s nuclear submarine capabilities while creating 100 new jobs. The SASH joins an impressive national endeavour that already supports 42,000 jobs across the UK and 3,000 British businesses across the supply chain.

I also visited Teeside where I signed the Government’s £173 million contract with British business Draken Europe. This investment will deliver world-class training for our armed forces and demonstrates how defence can be an engine for growth, delivering on the Labour Government’s Defence Industrial Strategy while strengthening national security.
