Last week I was pleased to be invited to Yew Tree Primary Academy, where Principal Rebecca O’Hanlon and the children had gathered for a special ceremony to honour their support staff in Unison’s Stars Of Our Schools initiative brought by Unison Rep Allan Harvey.
Stars Of Our Schools is a great idea that reminds us schools aren’t just run by teachers. Teaching assistants, office staff, cleaners and site managers keep schools ticking every day. I was very happy to add my thanks to them for all they do to make sure local children have a safe and inspiring space to learn.
