On Friday I was pleased to visit Woolton Primary School to talk to pupils learning about the Hillsborough Disaster and its impact on local life and families.
It was good to see that, when asked who knew about Hillsborough, every pupil’s hand went up in the air. After almost 34 years it is important that they know what happened and why.
Ian Byrne MP joined me to talk about his Hillsborough The Real Truth Legacy Project, a campaign to educate all generations about the ‘real truth’ and injustice of Hillsborough. One of the key elements of the project is to have Hillsborough added to National Curriculum, an important move that would tell the real story of what happened in 1989 while hopefully helping future generations avoid the appalling treatment the Hillsborough families and survivors have endured for so long.
