I asked the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, about the decision to allow over 3,000 Atletico Madrid fans to travel to Anfield for a Champions League match in March when they couldn’t watch their team in Madrid because it was a coronavirus hotspot.
There’s now a higher than average instance of covid-19 in Liverpool compared with England and the rest of the UK. I called for the government to investigate whether there is a link between our higher infection rates and the game being allowed to go ahead.
