Maria Eagle MP A Strong Voice in Tough Times
On Wednesday I visited Oglet shore in Speke with Lynne and Jane from the Save Oglet Shore campaign group. They want to protect this vital wildlife corridor and guarantee access to the shore for local residents in light of proposals to change access via Dungeon Lane.
They spoke to me about how important access to Oglet shore is to them, and the impact that the current proposals will have on the local wildlife. Watch the video of my visit below for more.

On Thursday I saw Jane and Lynne again to meet representatives from the Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Peel Holdings. They told me that the civil aviation authority has informed them that safety requirements require the shutting of Dungeon Lane due to its proximity to the airport. During the meeting guarantees were given that access via Baileys Lane will be reopened and improved to give vehicles access to Oglet.
There are still points of difference between campaigners and the airport about some aspects of the planned airport expansion taking place over the next 30 years. I hope that the dialogue started in this meeting will allow for more meetings and an agreement to be reached in the future.
It was a productive meeting, but I was keen to get Jane and Lynne’s views on how it went and discuss the campaign going forward. Watch the video below to hear our thoughts.
