This week, I met with representatives from the RSPCA to back their campaign to end the use of wild animals in circuses.
I’ve long supported a ban on this cruel practice which is extremely harmful to the welfare of the animals involved. During my time as Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs a ban on the use of wild animals in circuses was in our manifesto at that time.
This change is long overdue. It’s time for the Government to take action and put an end to this cruel practice once and for all.
