The problems with leasehold exploitation are having an impact across the Garston and Halewood constituency. Speaking to residents in Woolton I know many of them bought their homes as a leasehold only to find that they have to pay ever increasing ground rent, extortionate service charges and a huge fee to get the freehold. Swift action must be taken to ban these practices and relieve the financial pressure on people already leaving in leasehold properties.
Working with my Labour Colleagues and the All Party Parliamentary Group for Leasehold reform I know we can force the Tory Government to deal with this growing problem in our housing market.
